This is my first ever blog. Let me begin by saying Malifaux is a fantastic game which I started back with the first edition, when it was only Book 1.

My first piece of advice is to have a look at all the masters available to a faction - this might seem obvious, but all too often the obvious is overlooked.  The reason for this is that no one master can do every mission brilliantly - some can do reasonably well at most. Malifaux is a game about the Faction you take rather than the Master.

My second piece of advice is to be a good sport. There are always masters that will make you feel that you have no hope. From those games you do not do well in, (I do not like the word LOSE), work out what went wrong and what you can learn from that. Do not be afraid to talk to your opponent and get him to give you some pointers.

In this blog I will be looking at Jakob Lynch, I have never used him before so this will be a true account of a player using him and learning along the way. He is a duel faction master, which means that he can either be taken in the Ten Thunders faction or Neverborn faction. I will be looking at him as a Neverborn master.
What I will say for the Ten Thunders faction is that if you want a bit of each faction, then they are great for that.

Neverborn are the original inhabitants of Malifaux, or so they would have you believe!!!  Jakob is a card hustler. He runs a club in Malifaux called the Honey Pot where you can tend to many vices, gambling, prostitution, and a new drug called Brilliance.

The first thing with Jakob’s crew is ‘Brilliance’. It allows you to hit and hurt models with the ‘brilliance’ characteristic easier and allows you to make your opponents models do things.
This month I have used my $60 to get the Dark Debts box set $40 and a pack of Beckoners $16 leaving me $4 to add to next month.

The Dark Debts box gives you Jakob Lynch, Hungering Darkness, and 3 Illuminated. This is a good solid core, but what it needs is a way to give out ‘brilliance’ at range. This is where my other purchase comes in, the Beckoners. Even though they are Neverborn, if you are using Jakob as Ten Thunders he is still allowed to hire them because of his ‘Infiltration’ ability which allows him to “hire up to 4 models with the Darkened Characteristic that are not the Crew’s declared Faction.

So that’s all for now I will post up more info as I go along thanks for reading.
